2. At what age can my child be assessed for dyslexia?
It is recommended by SASC that children under 8 are not assessed for dyslexia. I can complete a Tests of Dyslexia screener, which gives a Risk of Dyslexia for younger children.

3. What can my child expect on the day of an assessment?
The assessment will take place either at my office or your home. The assessment takes about 2-3 hours. I always start with the written assessment and then move onto cognitive profile, reading and spelling. Breaks are built into the assessment. Snacks are important!

4. When is the next Dyslexia Screener Day?
Dyslexia Screener Days are a concept where I travel around the UK to remote places, assessing people for dyslexia in hard-to-reach places. The vision is to have a camper van and take my dog along with me. Dyslexia Screener Days launched on 30th October 2025 – watch out for the next date. You can book a screener any day of the week, no need to wait.

5. How much does a full Dyslexia Assessment cost?
A full Dyslexia Assessment costs £450, with a £150 non-refundable deposit required at the time of booking. £300.00 due 7 days in advance; if a short notice booking, the full £450.00 payment is required.

6. What is a Short Assessment?
A Short Assessment costs £135 and offers a quicker, more affordable way to identify strengths and weaknesses. While it does not provide a full diagnosis, it can include recommendations for schools and the EHCP process. In addition to the TOD Screener, it includes processing and memory assessments.

7. Should my child have an eye check before an assessment?
Yes. Children should see an optician before a Dyslexia Assessment. If your child experiences moving words or eye strain, a visit to an optometrist is recommended. Children with difficulties will be asked to complete a further visual stress questionnaire.
